If you have lost teeth in your upper jaw and the supporting bone has deteriorated, our oral surgeon may recommend a sinus lift to help you regain your bone density. This bone grafting procedure is designed specifically for the upper jaw and may be necessary before you can replace missing teeth. Call Fort Lauderdale OMS at 954-356-9956 to set up an appointment with Dr. Roland Hernandez and learn more about sinus lifts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Sinus lifts, also known as sinus augmentations, are a type of bone grafting treatment used to treat bone deterioration in the upper jaw, specifically in the area of the molars and premolars towards the back of the mouth. The maxillary sinuses are located above the upper jawbone on either side of your nose, and when a tooth is lost in that area, there may not be enough bone structure to place a dental implant. This makes a sinus lift necessary before you can regain your oral health and smile.

When you receive a sinus lift, our oral surgeon will gently lift the sinus membrane and move it away from the jaw. Bone grafting material is then placed in the area to add to the bone structure, where it can grow together with your bone to provide a healthier and more stable foundation for your teeth. You can expect a healing period of four to nine months after your sinus lift procedure before an implant or other treatment can be provided.
