Intravenous (IV) sedation is a form of conscious sedation. This means that, while you will feel relaxed and comfortable, you will also remain awake during your procedure and be able to respond to any instructions our oral surgeon and team give. IV sedation works by providing medication directly into your bloodstream. It is a very effective form of sedation, and following your procedure, you may not remember details of your treatment, or you may feel as if you slept through your time in our office. IV sedation is also very safe for use, and our team will monitor you closely during your procedure to help ensure that there are no complications.
Prior to your treatment, you will meet with our oral surgeon in a consultation to discuss your medical history, dental needs and any other relevant factors to determine if IV sedation is the right option for you. If you are receiving IV sedation, we will provide you with instructions on what to do before and after your procedure.
